Indian organisations are increasingly moving beyond experimentation with generative AI (GenAI) to focus on transformative use cases, according to NTT DATA’s Global GenAI Report: How Organizations are Mastering their GenAI Destiny in 2025. The report highlights significant investments in GenAI technologies across the country, with 67% of Indian executives having “expert” or “robust” GenAI teams.

In India, GenAI is being leveraged for critical functions like quality control, risk assessment, fraud detection, process automation, and personalised service recommendations. Two-thirds of Indian C-suite executives expect GenAI to improve competitiveness, accelerate innovation, enhance compliance, bolster security, and drive revenue growth within the next two years.

While 95% of Indian organisations claim to have well-defined GenAI strategies, only 37% have aligned these strategies with their broader business plans, limiting returns on investment. Skill gaps also pose a significant challenge, with 55% of respondents highlighting the need for employee training to effectively integrate GenAI into workflows.

Cloud-based solutions are emerging as the preferred platform for deploying GenAI applications, with 100% of Indian IT decision-makers endorsing their practicality. However, legacy infrastructure remains a major roadblock, cited by 87% of Indian executives as a barrier to effective GenAI implementation.

Barriers to adoption

Key obstacles to GenAI adoption in India include a lack of user training, safety and security concerns, low awareness of solutions, and resistance to the technology. These challenges are compounded by unclear government regulations, with 81% of Indian respondents identifying regulatory uncertainty as a hindrance to their GenAI strategies.

As GenAI adoption accelerates, Indian organisations are increasingly focused on balancing innovation with responsibility. While 81% of Indian leaders acknowledge the importance of guiding employees in using GenAI responsibly, many admit to lacking formal policies for its usage. Concerns around intellectual property protection and operational safety remain prevalent.

Despite these challenges, optimism around GenAI remains high, with 79% of Indian respondents expressing excitement about its transformative potential. The report suggests that organizations that address skill gaps, align GenAI strategies with business objectives, and adopt ethical practices will be better positioned to unlock its full value.

What is Firewall? A Firewall is a network security device that monitors and filters incoming and outgoing network traffic based on an organization's previously established security policies. At its most basic, a firewall is essentially the barrier that sits between a private internal network and the public Internet.

Secure your network at the gateway against threats such as intrusions, Viruses, Spyware, Worms, Trojans, Adware, Keyloggers, Malicious Mobile Code (MMC), and other dangerous applications for total protection in a convenient, affordable subscription-based service. Modern threats like web-based malware attacks, targeted attacks, application-layer attacks, and more have had a significantly negative effect on the threat landscape. In fact, more than 80% of all new malware and intrusion attempts are exploiting weaknesses in applications, as opposed to weaknesses in networking components and services. Stateful firewalls with simple packet filtering capabilities were efficient blocking unwanted applications as most applications met the port-protocol expectations. Administrators could promptly prevent an unsafe application from being accessed by users by blocking the associated ports and protocols.
