Apple users, the government has a ‘high’ risk warning for you. According to an advisory issued by The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), multiple Apple devices – iPhones, iPads, MacBook and even the browser Safari are at risk of exploitation by cyber criminals. The advisory dated November 7, 2024 comes with a high severity warning and advises Apple users to apply appropriate updates to their devices.
CERT-In is a cyber security agency that works under the aegis of Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
What the advisory says
“Multiple vulnerabilities were reported in Apple products and have been addressed in various versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, watchOS, visionOS, and Safari”, reads the CERT-In advisory. It targets both individuals and organisations using Apple products and exposes them to “high risk of information disclosure and denial of service”. The advisory warns that the security flaw exposes users to “potential unauthorised access to sensitive user information, denial of service and data manipulation.”
Software versions affected
As listed in the CERT-In advisory, following software versions are impacted by the security flaw
- Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 18.1
- Apple iOS and iPadOS versions prior to 17.7.1
- Apple macOS Sequoia versions prior to 15.1
- Apple macOS Sonoma versions prior to 14.7.1
- Apple macOS Ventura versions prior to 13.7.1
- Apple watchOS versions prior to 11.1

What should users do
