Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has expanded its retail-focused portfolio with new networking and computing updates aimed at improving connectivity, resilience, and operational visibility across retail environments, from warehouses and back offices to checkout counters and curbside operations.
The expanded offerings combine updates to HPE Aruba Networking CX switching at the branch edge with enhancements to HPE Nonstop computing systems at the core. Together, the solutions are designed to support uninterrupted transaction processing, improved network visibility, and scalable infrastructure for modern retail operations.
HPE showcased these updates at NRF 2026: Retail’s Big Show, highlighting how resilient networking and fault-tolerant systems can support retail environments where downtime directly impacts revenue and customer experience.
At the core, new HPE Nonstop Compute NS9 X5 and NS5 X5 systems are designed for environments that require continuous availability, supporting backend payment processing, inventory management, and other mission-critical retail applications. The systems are intended to maintain operations during hardware or network failures, particularly during peak demand periods.
At the edge, HPE introduced new 8-port models in the Aruba Networking CX 6000 Switch Series. These compact, silent switches are designed for flexible deployment in checkout lanes and space-constrained retail environments. The switches support Power over Ethernet (PoE) to connect point-of-sale systems, IoT devices, cameras, sensors, and wireless access points, enabling retailers to expand in-store digital services without major network redesigns.
HPE has also expanded analytics and visibility capabilities through deeper integration of the Mist AIOps platform. The Marvis virtual network assistant is now integrated with HPE Juniper Networking Premium Analytics, bringing together network performance data, location intelligence, and engagement metrics. The integration allows teams across IT, operations, and marketing to access insights through a natural-language interface and shift from reactive troubleshooting to more proactive decision-making.
For network assurance, HPE Aruba Networking User Experience Insight adds support for Wi-Fi 7 and uses sensors to monitor end-user experience and network performance. The system is designed to identify issues caused by upgrades or configuration changes before they affect users, helping organizations baseline performance, monitor trends, and plan for growth in connected devices and AI-driven workloads.
The HPE Nonstop platform has also received performance and security enhancements. New systems support scaling to up to 4,000 nodes through multi-generational clustering and deliver up to 15% higher performance compared with previous generations, based on internal benchmarks. Additional security features include Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) to protect sensitive customer and transaction data and support regulatory compliance.
Both HPE Nonstop Compute and HPE Aruba Networking CX switching are available through HPE GreenLake, allowing retailers to consume the infrastructure through a subscription-based model rather than traditional upfront investment.
The updated portfolio is intended to support retailers as they expand omnichannel services, deploy edge analytics, and adopt AI-driven applications while maintaining high availability and operational continuity.
